Chapter Nine

Seeing Dix in the club that night wasn’t what Rowan had expected. He wasn’t upset by any means, but he’d be lying if he said seeing Dix didn’t catch him off guard. After their encounter in the library, Dix was all Rowan could think about. It had started to overshadow his need to find out what had really happened to his brother. A part of Rowan felt guilty and selfish for letting his own desires overrule his obligation to his brother, but he couldn’t help it. It was as if Dix was a drug he couldn’t get enough of.

“You okay?” Dix asked as he flipped on his back next to Rowan.

Rowan was still lying on his stomach and turned his head to rest on his arms to stare at Dix. The man truly took his breath away. His thick muscular body, short blond hair, and those light blue eyes disarmed Rowan. It was as if he couldn’t think straight. Even now, the dark and woodsy scent of his sweat was doing things to Rowan’s cock. He’d just gotten off and his cock was stirring for round two.

“I’m great.” Rowan sucked in a breath as he rolled to lie on his side. His body ached in all the right places. As he shifted he felt something wet dripping from his hole and down his thigh.

Rowan’s eyes went wide and he reached behind him to feel his sore ass. His fingers came away wet. He brought his hand up to look at the evidence of Dix’s orgasm coating his fingers. Rowan looked over at Dix, who had his eyes closed and a lazy smile on his face.

Fuck! I’m a doctor. I should have known better. Rowan silently chastised himself. Never in his life had he had sex without protection. He knew the risk involved in reckless behavior such as this. Disease was the big factor but at least sleeping with Dix he wouldn’t get him pregnant.

“Hey, Dix.” Rowan moved his sticky hand to wipe it on the comforter between them. Dix stirred and turned to look at him. “I know this is a little too late to discuss, but are you clean?” At Dix’s confused expression, Rowan elaborated. “Do you have any diseases I need to be concerned about?” Dix’s brow creased and he shook his head in a way Rowan knew he had not a clue what he was talking about. “We didn’t use a condom. Should I be worried about anything?”

“No.” Dix propped himself up to look Rowan in the eye. “You have nothing at all to worry about.” Dix reached out to gently lay his hand over Rowan’s cheek. “I’d never put you at risk for anything. I swear it. I wouldn’t lie about something like that.”

Rowan let out the breath he’d been holding. Dix could be lying to him but the man didn’t strike him as a dishonest person. If anything Dix wore his emotions on his face. Rowan could tell when he was mad, happy, and aroused.
